Additive manufacturing (3D printing) is a versatile tool that offers affordable and flexible prototyping. The manufacturing of the designed parts can be done very quickly and in a decentralized manner. Furthermore, the designed pieces are lightweight and still very robust. For a physicist, it can be an essential tool in the development of pieces, supports, enclosures of many experiments and setups, which would otherwise not be possible to obtain in a quick and affordable way. This hands-on seminar will introduce students in the 3D design of parametric pieces using the FreeCAD software. The goal is to empower students with basic skills to make use of this technology in the future. Students are required to bring their laptops with the latest version installed.
