La computación cuántica estudia el uso de fenómenos microscópicos para acelerar los cálculos por ordenador. Avances recientes permiten el desarrollo de ordenadores cuánticos de un tamaño modesto, que podrían mejorar la investigación en física computacional. Múltiples laboratorios disponen de "simuladores cuánticos"; Google ha anunciado un chip cuánticos que podría mostrar ventajas computacionales. ¿Pero ha llegado ya la computación cuántica? ¿Para qué cálculos y para cuándo esperamos ver ventajas cuánticas? ¿Cómo se verifican dichos cálculos? En este seminario revisaremos el estado del arte de estás preguntas, los desafíos más inminentes en computación cuántica, y la investigación que realizamos en la Universidad de Granada en esta área.
