Abstract: The deterministic Fisher equation describes how an advantageous mutation spreads in space and many other phenomena in physics and biology. However, when considering finite populations, stochastic effect cannot be neglected. I will discuss how stochasticity changes the phenomenology of the Fisher equation. In the last part of my seminar, I will discuss the case in which the "advantageous mutation" causes a different spatial diffusivity of the mutants.
